Door County

I like to talk about Door County WI.  I have lived up in Door County during the summers since I was 17.  I have explored the whole peninsula and have a number of favorite spots I frequent.  Kayak spots, Kitesurfing spots, hiking spots, restaurant spots and swimming holes.

A long time ago, my uncle had two motorcycles, a Honda Rebel 250 and a Honda CB360T in Door County WI.  I grew up riding both of those and he has since sold them.  It wasn’t till a number of my friends started riding that I felt the urge to get back riding.  I was stuck on wanting a new bike the 2012 Triumph Street R.  As my funds dwindled with the arise of the up and coming season’s investments.  I fell back on a 1974 Honda CB750.  One ugly seat, but overall a beautiful bike that is in great condition for its age.  Since purchasing it, I bought a custom seat from Carpy, some Clubman handlebars, new pod filters, and rejetting it.  I will wait a little while to get a new muffler.

David Rack Bio

First post on my blog; which will be a bit of a writers journal, a few photographs, lots of opinions, stories, maybe eventually about one you really are curious about,  but one that is better told over a bonfire and a beer.

I currently own two businesses; a Kayak Tour company located at my multi-use house/business location in Juddville, a town located between Egg Harbor and Fish Creek and Gravity Trails,.  I started the kayak tour company in 2003, my senior year in College at the Evergreen State College.  While there I studied Film, Outdoor Recreation, and Renewable Energy.

My original passion of kayak guiding has given way to a lot of adventure in my life.  My uncle James Rack, an artist living in Hawaii for most of his life was who I went kayaking with when I was young.  We built a canvas Greenland Kayak when I was 14 and I was hooked.  Surfing waves on a kayak on Lake Michigan, gave me some inspiration to travel to Maui to learn how to surf when I was 19.  While there I worked at Mana Foods as a baker, and later as a kayak guide for Maui Eco-Tours swimming with the Dolphins. Morning were dedicated to Kayaking, while afternoons were dedicated to surfing. Not a bad start.

Since then, my travels have been focused on kitesurfing, and snowboarding.

Some goals for the next year or two include some more thrill sports and some sit down time.  Paragliding, Skydiving, a round the world trip and writing a book.

Thats it for this post.
